I can't beleive that the RIAA has bought our government and is turning it against us. Pretty soon, all fair usage rights will be killed.
We will have to pay royalities on everything. The RIAA want to strangle us all -- if they could they would charge us $1000 per song.

This link shows that the RIAA has lobbied the government to fight on its behalf against file-sharers. Internet privacy is now in the toilet.

yep, they're really just trying to protect their virtual monopoly on distribution because, just like the movie industry, the real money is in distribution

That's 10% still available to you if it's that important to you. I probably enjoy less than 10% of the music I've heard all said and done so the odds aren't that bad. 😉

EDIT: Also I think that they just hold the majority of sales, not necessarily the majority of records. Obviously there are a few records that sell much more than most all others combined, so you still would have a lot to choose from.
 
Well another way to look at this is maybe it wasn't such a great idea for the youth of America to turn into a bunch of thieves.

Justice also said that the law did not violate due-process protections because nothing in the Constitution specifically barred the investigative process set up by the DMCA, which requires record labels to get approval from a court clerk before asking Verizon or other Internet providers to surrender customer names.

Good thing that justice knows how to read the Constitution.
 
In my opinion, the RIAA and MPAA are the real Axis of Evil (or at least the Axis of Weasels). When the troops are done in Iraq, they should be next.
 
Wow, I don't see why anyone is complaining. Its online a matter of time before someone cracks their tracking system. Besides that, it's stealing. I don't care if its from Osama Bin Laden or God. Its still stealing.

the naivity of some people astounds me. taping a song off the radio is not stealing.. but downloading it from a P2P site is?

Are you asking for the record companies to take away your rights?

If you are going to complain about losing rights you should at least know what rights you are talking about. Fair Use covers using samples from a piece of copyrighted work for journalistic, educational, and/or criticism/coment purposes. Fair Use does not entitle you to make copies of copyrighted material you legally own for personal use.

This is something people fail to relieze yes you can legally make backups BUT being allowed and INTITLED are to seperate things.

They have only taxed internet radio stations because they want to put them out of busines.

Fair use does allow for educational and personal use. It does not allow you to sell copyrighted material. Look it up.
An example of protected fair use is being allowed to photocopy articles at a library.
