Rhino Ramps + RWD= Fail

So I went to change my Oil. What I thought was going to be a quick thing to get on top of the ramps turned into an hour long struggle.

many attempts they kept sliding even with the weight of the car on them. There are plastic scrape marks on my driveway now. This is a flat surface as well. The rubber feet came off every-time, So much for them.

And no I am not flooring it or anything, I am just giving it enough gas to creep up.


When I did get on top, one side was not fully on it yet..ect PAIN IN THE ASS

Then I got pieces of wood and put them down on top of the ramps so that the ramps will have a load before I drive on them. This seemed to help but I had to try a few times before I got it on.


Next oil change I am going to be buying a jack and jack stands. fuck Rhino Ramps

yea, well they didn't sell that at my local stores, I am just going with a jack and jack stands solves all the issues.
 
Get a low profile floor jack (not the little tiny tall ones that come with the jack stand sets) or you're going to still need some kind of small ramps or blocks of wood if your car is low enough.
 
Ramp can slide even on fwd. When I use them for an oil change I am lucky enough to have a 1/2" lip on my garage at its entrance, so I put them up against this and they absolutely do not move. I bet it would work for you in this situation but unfortunately you dn't have access to my garage!

The only way I've ever been able to get up metal ramps is to set them in front of the edge of my garage where there's a lip.
 
Take each rhino ramp and lodge them under your front tires, use your foot, kick it in there and make sure it's centered and straight.... then, creep up slowly with minimal acceleration.

You should line up perfectly with minimal slipping.

doh, I did not even think to put them that way, I was doing it the other way so I can clear my front Lip Spoiler.

^^ I will try this when and I got to use them again if ever.

Bah, that sucks. My RX7 isn't low enough so it's not a big deal for me.

Yeah, I guess you'll need that floor lip. Good luck.
 
Mine slide as well. So what I generally do is either put concrete blocks behind it(these don't hold that well) or the best option I've found is to put my extra rims+tires behind them. Seems the rubber from the tires offers enough grip to stop them slipping so much.
 
My late father's tip: assemble some scrap 2x4's into two "T"s, put a T in front each ramp with the horizontal leg butting the garage wall or some other obstruction.

My tip: never ever use metal ramps on an asphalt driveway-if the drive is even slightly warm even the lightest car will dig the edges of the ramp into the driveway badly.

The plastic ramps I use now have removeable flat extenders on their approach side which should make avash's method work no matter how low your lip spoilers go.

Agreed...this is what I do.
 
I can't use ramps on my car... or at least none that I've looked at. Too much nose on the car before the front wheels. Jack and stands only. Sigh.

Maybe they make ramps with a more gradual incline, but I haven't found them yet.

Thump is right baout the driveway. Also don't use a jack on a black driveway. Mine still has wheel marks 🙂
