UK - MOTORIST Dave Alsop got the hump when a sex-crazed rhino tried to MATE with his Renault Laguna. Two-ton male Sharka took a fancy to the T-reg motor as Dave, 20, drove three pals through a safari park.
They had stopped to take photos of the 12-year-old beast rutting. Carpenter Dave, Leah Jones, Ben Windle and Chris Turton were horrified as the clearly excited white rhino trundled towards them. Sharka tried to mount the Renault from the passenger side.
He dented two doors and a wing and ripped off the wing mirrors before Dave could drive away. The randy rhino then chased them at 35mph for several hundred yards. Bosses at the West Midlands Safari Park, Bewdley, Worcs, agreed to pay for the damage. Dave, of Stourbridge, West Midlands, said: ?You could tell he was a fella. He was a big boy and obviously aroused. He sidled up against us. The next thing I know he?s banging away at the car and it?s rocking like hell. He could have turned us over. It was a nightmare but I laugh about it now. ?Mounted by rhino? will have to go in the car?s service history.?
Pal Ben, an office administrator, said: ?Dave?s car is bluey-grey and I think the rhino mistook it for a female. He was puffing and panting.? Head warden Bob Lawrence said: ?Sharka is mating with his partner Trixie, who is in season. There is quite a lot of bashing about foreplay in rhino love-making. And they are very short-sighted.? What would be the result if Dave had not got away ? a Renault with a horn, or a rhino on wheels?
