RH8, Apt-get problems

I've been trying to get this apt-get thing working for ever now.

It installs fine, however, no matter what command I try to run I get this...

Reading Package Lists... Done
Collecting File Provides... Error!
E: could not open RPM package list file /var/state/apt/lists/apt.freshrpms.net_redhat_8.0_en_i386_base_pkglist.os: (no error)
E: Problem opening /var/state/apt/lists/apt.freshrpms.net_redhat_8.0_en_i386_base_pkglist.os
E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.

What could be the problem?

Hmm, you can get apt-get for Redhat 8? That's news to me; I thought apt-get was only in Debian. 😕

Oh well, consider this a bump. 🙂

Well, I just took a look at the Howto ... it's exactly what I did 🙁 I don't understand why I get the message above when trying to run apt-get

Odd! Its working now (although I've not touched it for a couple days) ... I went to check and see if the directory existed, which it did, but no file was there. So I ran apt-get update AGAIN and all the sudden it worked. Odd. I tried apt-get update before to no avail... server problem maybe?

Apt is good about printing errors that the server returns, like 404s or 501s, so I doubt it was a server problem.
