RH 7.3 - Boot hanging on partition check

Hello, all -

Hopefully, somebody can help me with a problem I am having. Until two days ago, My server ran Debian (Potato). I have in this server 3 HDs:

HDA is a 20GB Maxtor
HDB is a 60GB Maxtor
HDC is a 27GB Maxtor
HDD is my CD-ROM

I attempted to upgrade (?) to RedHat 7.3 Beta. When I first began to run the boot disk, the boot hung on the partition check of HDC (a drive that worked perfectly fine under Debian). I rebooted a few times, with this as the result every time. I disabled this drive in my BIOS, and the same thing happened. I then unplugged the drive, and, lo and behold, I could install RedHat.

I have tried to reinstall HDC, but each time the boot hangs on the partition check.

Can anybody help me with this problem?

EDIT:
I just thought of something - I believe had Maxtor's EZ-Bios on this drive. My boot drive (hda) also has EZ-Bios on it, but my hdb does not. Anybody think there is a chance this could be the issue?

I'm not sure if I fully understand your question, so I'll answer in two ways:

If hdc is connected, it won't boot, much less mount. It shows that the partition checks have succeeded on hda and hdb, but just hangs at hdc.

When I had Debian, it had no problem booting and mounting that drive.

Hmmm...let me check...

... there is no entry in fstab for hdc. unfortunately, I can't check the fstab with it connected, 'cause it won't get to a prompt.

Can you try sticking the drive in another computer? I'm afraid it sounds like the drive in question is kaput :-(

What do you mean the drive works fine in Debian? Does it contain formatted filesystems? Are they actually mounted upon Debian boot-up?

When I had debian as my o/s, the ext2 filesystem (same as my working hdb) would mount.
