RGB printers?

just wondering I've read/heard of printers that print in "RGB" mode? Is this possible? I would guess the gamut would still be narrower than true RGB.

I've never heard of this... MOnitors are obviously RGB, and it si hard on them to produce white and yellow. I think that it would be very difficult to print yellow if you only have RGB to choose from. White is easy of course.

That's impossible. Be definition, a printer uses CMY, not RGB. CMY are the secondary colors of light. RGB are the secondary colors of pigments (forget what your art teacher told you).

Light wise:
C = G+B
M = R+B
Y = R+G

Pigment wise:
R= M+Y
G= C+Y
B= C+M

This means that cyan ink reflects green and blue light equally. Yellow ink reflects red and green, etc.
If you mix red and green light you get yellow light.

I know what RGB and CMYK are. But what exactly are these printers that claim to print in RGB. What exactly does that mean? Are they basically just CMYK printers with a larger gamut?
