for those of you non /.'ers, someone implemented RFC1149. This is a promising technology, and may eventually replace everything currently in use. The theory started when ancient problem solvers needed to send messages, and fits in very well with today's modern networks. For the full description of what they did, check this our, or go here for the /. write-up

Imagine gaming with those ping times 🙂
My only question - how do you handle situations where you want to send to 2 different people? you'd need two differently trained pigeons, right (I dont know if 1 bird can go to 2 diff. places - i know nothing about birds). Of course, you could do it in a situation where you connect to an "ISP" and it has birds that go to 5 "routers" or so, and each goes to 5 others... kinda like gnutella... 🙂
