I'm trying to figure out the optimal placement of my WAP at home. I'm using an 802.11b adapter in my laptop to measure signal strength, and I'm running Linux. Most of the WLAN tools that I've tried give the following measurements:
Link Quality (xx/92)
Signal Level (-xx dBm)
Noise Level (-xx dBm)
Signal-to-Noise Ratio (+xx dBm)
Does anyone know what each of these measurements mean? And what are the optimal levels for each?
