revving engine in neutral automatic ok?

I have an auto transmission car and lately since it's been cold, when I get in the car I've been revving the engine in neutral to get some warm air comming into the cabin. is this ok? that's not stressing anything right?

No, it makes the car explode. That's why they put the "N" there on the shifter, so that you could have the car blow up at will.

It depends on what you mean by "revving". D you mean a fast idle, or are you flooring it. It's kind of nice to let the (cold) oil have a chance get warm and circulating before you redline it.

😉

probably....but its still best to warm your car up beforehand. If you are revving the engine from a cold start, then you may cause some unnecessary wear. But as far as the transmission, I dont know. Shouldn't be any different than if you were to do that in park.

When cold, ok for the tranny, bad for the engine.

You may be cold, but not as cold as the look on the mechanics face when he says 'rebuild'.
