revisiting the aztek

spaceman

Lifer
my uncle has one,
never see too many anymore
looking back on them they dont seem as ugly as they once did
or could be me

Still ugly, sorry.

Pretty funny seeing it in Breaking Bad though. Wonder why they chose that of all the choices...

There's a reason you don't see many of them on the road.

Annual sales by year:
2001: 27,322
2002: 27,793
2003: 27,354
2004: 20,588
2005: 5,020
2006: 347
2007: 25

Compare that to the Ford F150 which sold nearly 6,000,000 during that same time frame.

I would love to turn one into a weird pimp my ride style project with bags and FI and recliners built into the back.

Ya thats what I said .... recliners..

then again a merc sprinter would be a better base.

LOL, I would want a 2007 if I wanted one at all....only 25 on the road, only go up in value!

Yeah one day you'll see it on Mecum Auto Auction - "this thing is a CLASSIC Bob, only 2 in this color combination were ever built!!!"

It's a pontiac from early 2000's, so you're lucky to get 120k out of the transmission. At ~10 years old and ~100k on an aztek chassis it's probably not worth the cost of replacement

I think they quit making them in 2005, so those few that sold in the following years were actually new 05's that had just been sitting on dealer lots for a couple of years.

Pontiac took a minivan, The Montana, and shortened up the rear end to make it a SAV. It was sold to couples who like to do outdoors activities.

They are a incredibly useful, not the best looking - but useful. Lots of room for 4 - lots of cargo room. Nice mounts in the hatch for equipment & tailgating.

The Buick Rendezvous sold extremely well - a better looking Aztek.

The 3400 & 4t65-E transmission is generally considered a long lasting combo.

One of the last Top Gear USA episodes Rut put big ass tires on one and made it look like an offroader, and I thoguht that it looked pretty neat.
I don't think they are as ugly as everyone claims. They obviously aren't designed by Pininfarina but they aren't hidious. I think a lot of people just go with the flow and say they're ugly, because it's the "trend". Now the Nissan Juke. That's an ugly vehicle.

I just checked Edmunds.com and they indicate that the Aztek was only offered in 2001-2005 so the sales records for 2006 and 2007 must be of remaining 2005 inventory. I doubt it will be worth squat.

Isuzu Vehicross
Nissan Juke
Pontiac Vibe
Pontiac Aztek
Buick Rendezvous

these were... ummm... unique.

How dare you crush my dreams!!!!!!

They are actually pretty decent cars....and very solid ones to boot. Design-wise, it was ahead of its time. If you think that you might want one and can stomach the looks, you can get a damn good vehicle at quite the discount.

The Vibe was the exact same vehicle as the Toyota Matrix. They sold well and got rave reviews. Don't think that belongs with this.

As for the Aztek, it drives like an anemic bathtub. The seating position is awful and the interior is typical turn-of-the-century GM brittle plastic.

Its better looking than the Juke and Cube and probably a few other new cars out there now.

Edit: It also looks really awful stock, but the green one on top gear with bigger wheels looked awesome imo!
