Can anyone clarify this question?

Both the Abit NF7-S and Asus A7N8X Deluxe come in rev. 1.2/1.4 respectively, and also in 2.0.
As far as I gather, the rev. 2.0 for each is just to support 400mhz FSB, correct?
Will each of the earlier revisions from each board push 400mhz FSB (I know its not 'officially' supported, but will it do so anyway?)

no not all the time YMMV I don't know if that is true with the ABIT but I have hearda few a7n8x's don't Ther eis more of a difference than just the support for 400 ddr too. The rev 2's are more stable and you'll run into much less problems. most all retailers have only the rev 2's now anyways.

Well, I know that it helps in stability @ higher speeds, which is why it supports 400mhz FSB. Is there anything besides that? I'm looking to buy an old rev. of an Asus or Abit mobo, not th 2.0 rev, because I can't afford the $115+ for it. Unless someone is willing to offload one for $70-80 🙂

Both Abit and Asus revision 1.xx boards officially support 200MHz FSB with latest bios updates. My Asus is at 11x200FSB stable right now. Your mileage may vary. Peace.
