If you miss a gear while shifting in a new car, with very low milage and with a manual transmission, and give it way too much gas while not engaged in any gear (like reving up past 7 grand), with this hurt the car in anyway. It only happened once, but the sound was horrible and it took a second to realize i missed the gear and properly engage it.

your not supposed to go all rank on a new engine. im not sure what damage it does, but you need to break it in before you go all crazy

Extra wear and tear, but I doubt the car will die because of that.

Doing this engages the "Fast and Furious" Chip in the cars computer, you have transformed formerly humble new car into a wheel standing power-house. You also get hot chicks wanting to jump your bones.

I did not have the intention of going crazy in the car, i want to break in the engine. It was just the gearbox is unfamilar to me and I got stuck going from first to second, i thought that i was in second when i was caught between gears and let off the clutch some and gave it gas at which point it growled like a crazy bastard and reved up to 7k. i immdiately realized it, depressed the clutch and and put it in second and then drove it home normally, i just wanted to know if i f****d anything up since the car has about 90 miles on it and it sounded ugly.

:Q:Q

The car only has 90 miles on it? Sh!t. Oh well, atleast that means if you f*ck it up, it's still under warranty. "It came like that!", LOL If nothing broke right away, I doubt there is any major damage. Hopefully you didn't do this right after starting because then the oil hasn't gotten a chance to really circulate yet.

No, don't worry about it, but you'll want to sell it before you get to 40,000 miles. At around 45,000 miles the head gasket will blow, you'll throw a rod, the timing chain will jump off the sprocket, and the oil pump will seize. The second gear synchro will probably fall off too.

Just kidding. ;) Don't worry about a thing.

well I hope for your sake you have solid lifters not hydralic ones.........(they aren't made for over 5 - 5.5k revs)

I'm gussing it's either a honda or a toyota, some 4 cly engine though, am I right?

You didn't screw it up, don't worry........unless it red lines at like 4k, bahahaha

If you are still driving it, then nothings really broken. I had a friend who decided to downshift to like 2nd at 80 and his revs shot up to 7k+ when red is 6. His car (accord) ran fine for like another year before he sold it. Besides, the car is still under warranty at 90 miles so no biggie.

Does warranty cover retardedness? I was at a party with my friend who owns the car and he was blasted off his ass so i had to drive him home in his new car, since he drove me there (he was peacefully sleeping in the back seat during this whole thing. Im just hoping he doesn't call me up sometime an ask what the f**k happened to his car, why it won't start, why the engine has a huge hole burnt in the side of it, why the dealer told him he needed a new engine when he went in for an oil change... something along those lines. I feel really bad cause he passed out as his house now i messed with his new car which is really important to him.

not your car then don't sweat it

it won't cause any immediate damage but in the long run you're sure to have started the ball on some other problems.....

nothing noticible for 1-5 years probably......just depends

No, but it might not be so easy to tell that retardedness caused the problem.

So if anything is screwed in the car now or will be sometime down the road, what part is most likely it?

stop worrying about it.......

without seeing or evaluating it how the hell can we terll you what's wrong?

it could be anything, just don't worry about it.......it'll take a long ass time probably, and it might only speed up the process by a year or less anyway, pretty unoticible either way

Ok, thanks. I'll just let him know in the morning what happened and he can yell at me for it. Its bedtime now anyway, almost 5.
