Help--Any ideas where to find good reviews of stand alone DVD players?? I am looking for a combo DVD-VCR drive to save space. Thanks. R

best bet is to do a google search on a couple of model numbers you are most likely to buy. Your manufacture preference such as Sony, Toshiba, Samsung, etc, go to web sites like Bestbuy.com or circuitcity.com, check out what they have and start narrowing your search.

Google is the way to go.

Thanks --but I have done that. Sites like Bestbuy, Crutchfield and others tell you the features, but they don't say if it is good or not. Many sites also have buyer submitted reviews, but they can be misleading. A unit that gets a great review overall may have only been reviewed buy one person who loved it. Another unit that got a so-so review may have been reviewed by 20 people. Five who loved it, 12 who thought it was fine and 3 who thought it was junk. The review gives the impression that it is junk if you only look at the rating and don't read all the reviews. I am still looking for info. Thanks. R

Choice A: Just buy one and stop worrying about it (I would buy at costco)

Choice B: Get separate components (combos are junk)

hey gunbuster--why would anyone chose "A"?? Maybe dady has a fat wallet?? About choice "B"--have you ever had a combo player or are you just shooting your mouth off. I have CD players, DVD players and VRCs. What I don't have is a lot of room to put all of them. R
