Reviews and Advertisement integrity

Is there some kind of policy on the integrity of Anands reviews? I've looked around but haven't found an official statement. I see advertisements for all kinds of award winning hardware on this site. Thats probably bringing in big bucks to Anand. How can I be confident that he isn't choosing the best hardware based how much ad revenew it will bring him? I might be way off basis here, but I think its important to discuss. What is the policy?

The Inquirer slammed hardware review sites for accepting something like payola.

It mentioned a review that published one-half of a review on the new dual-core pentium, which is suspiciously like the first article in AT about dual-core pentium.

If you are interested, look at the TWO articles in AT about the dual-core (esp. ths second one), look at the Inquirer article (no link for the sake of decency), and look at what people are writing about this in slashdot, etc.

Above all, don't believe everything you read.

The policy is a strict separation of editorial and advertising. AnandTech contracts a separate company to handle all ad sales, we don't do any of that internally. You don't have to be an advertiser to get a review, and advertisers are treated like everyone else. The official policy is one of common sense and basic integrity, I've posted some thoughts on that here:

Straight from the horse's mouth--thanks for clearing that up! I always thought it was a 3rd party or Google placing ads anyway, but its nice to be sure.

I have often wondered this with PCGamer. They usually have good reviews of games I thought were bad. Thats when I notice all the ads for that game.

Thanks for the replies. It has cleared up some of my worries. Might I suggest an official policy should be easily accessed by everyone. Make a little policy page.

Thanks.
