Review of San Francisco Hotel requested

I'll tell you where NOT to stay at. The Hilton... supposed to be a 4 star hotel, THE WORST hotel I've stayed in.
Requested a non-smoking room, the room reeked of smoke. Blankets smelled, toliet leaked, etc...

The W is nicer, but much more expensive of course.

just wanted to add, if you want a good hotel just go to biddingfortravel.com and use them. i've stayed at great hotels because of them. the park hyatt on embarcadero is really nice. not the greatest location but you can get around. the westin st. francis is in a great location...the hotel itself is ok. i paid for $65/night on the weekends.

Just stayed at the Marriot next to the Moscone Center last week.

Decent place. Room service food was terrible though. Nice location.

Ok? Why not?

i don't have any personal experience with it but my gf stayed there once and said it was creepy and smelly and small. so i keep teasing her telling her that we're gonna stay there when we visit and she keeps telling me, "YOU BETTER NOT!"

so take that for what its worth.

There was this really small one about 2 blocks from Union Square that I stayed at, and it was awesome. Only like $68 a night through hotwire.com, too. Wish I could remember the name. 🙁

I would check hotwire.com for the dates you're visiting. I understand your hesitation on the chains, but there's an interesting thing that happens on hotwire. All the times I've booked through it and chosen a hotel that's 4.5 stars or higher I've gotten either the park hyatt or pan pacific.. Both are stunning hotels.

If I were you I'd go that route. There's a little bit of a gamble but the odds are tremendously in your favor based on my experience.
