And one more thing... It says right on the site, "Preliminary Ship Date3 6/24/2005 Details" So why don't we wait until then, and see if the X2 is available/instock anywhere.....

Thats not under $1000, and I had to delete the warranty to get to $1049 ! And thats with 512meg. For a duallie, that is so handicapped, why even bother. Shall I configure an X2 system ? They should be available monday. I will wait until then see if they are in stock and then do it. But I could blow the he$$ out of that $1049 system performance wise (not even a firewire port) for close to that price....

The warranty is 1-year standard, you can't make it any shorter. I would love for you to configure an X2 system from any major OEM and provide us with a link.

Well if you see any dual-core AMD systems advertised for under $1500 once the CPUs are available, let me know and prove me wrong.

Also, 1GB Infineon PC2 4200 is $76 retail; probably much lower for major manufacturers. 1GB branded PC3200 is about the same price. The cost difference between DDR and DDR2 is negligible.

Great that is fine I was figuring about 140ish so you saved another 60 bucks and neutered the performance even more...Pretty soon you will have single core beating it even in multithreaded apps!! LOL!!! You are making one sh^tty system!!!

Soon as you start seeing 1000 dollar Intel 820 systems you let me know...By then I am sure $1500 X2 systems will be around.....

Owned.

$1034 Shipped For A Base Dimension 9100 w/ Pentium D 820.

Now where's your $1500 X2 system?

That odd when I hit that link the 630 was picked and when I set it to 820 it was 1124.....

Buddy you hardly own me....I will speak slower since like reality you seem to have a llimited grasp....Since you can obvioulsy put together a Biatch machine with X300 512mb of slow DDR2 ram that you think you cant build under 1500 a machine with a cpu that only cost 290 dollars more and with many budget 939 systems in the 100-140 dollar range???

HUH??? Is it like I said that there are not many OEM builders period of AMD systems...Did I not say that make the combination a bit unfair...Huh??? Let me know if I go to fast for you. Being as you probably are a Michael Moore fanatic I can imagine Logic sometimes gets by you.

When X2's are avialable to buy many will be able to build systems (non SLI with prissy cards and shortcuts everywhere else and get them under 1500.00

I think just saying no OEM builder is pretty lame cause you know AMD doesn't have large OEM accounts....

Get it actually under 1000 by cutting any tech support and try to cut something else then I will concede you built a system under 1000 bucks.....with no current 1500 X2 available...I still think OEM can build a system under 1500.00....I mean look at power alone...Intel system if in SLI are going to take a beast more a power supply and case cooling I imagine is going to be tough...

Well yes, the best chipset on the market comes with a price.

If I could use an intel chipset on an AMD, I sure would.

Except you wouldn't need an intel chipset for AMD because intel's advantage several years ago was quality control in memory controller performance. AMD isn't hurting there because it's built into their CPUs, and it does offer superior memory performance to intel, especially when it comes to dual core.

Then there's the fact that nVidia has been providing chipsets to AMD products that are as good as intel chipsets. The fact that nVidia's intel nF4 chipset does so well is further proof.

I guess you just like paying money (for things you don't need) to controlling juggernauts.

Whatever floats your boat.

Although AMD has not released the names of the vendors that will sell systems with the Athlon 64 X2 processors, it has told us that the chips will first appear in digital-content-creation and general productivity PCs from four major desktop companies, followed by a wider release to the OEM market afterward. By staying away from gaming systems, AMD plays to dual core's strengths better than Intel did on its initial release, which featured game-oriented systems such as the Falcon Northwest Mach V and the Dell Dimension XPS Gen 5.

You keep bringing up performance...performance...performance. Well...you got me...AMD X2 is much faster than any Pentium D. But I think I already said that about 10 times.

Back to the topic of business...because that is what AMD and Intel are...they are businesses...

AMD's dual-core launch is POOR from a business perspective. Dell (and I'm sure Sony and HP soon after) will have dual-core Intel machines in large quantities for around $1000. AMD's launch into dual-core will be more of a whimper...with more limited quantities and higher prices.

A business success isn't defined by benchmark results or popularity among people who build their own computers (which probably make up a few percent of the worldwide computer market).

OK, even I said that a poor mis-informed idot MIGHT get a good deal IF they could find the mobo and the other parts to support it. That Dell machine looks so crippled, its not even funny, and we still don't know if they can really deliver, and no benchmarks(on that platform). And again, if you can get the X2 on Monday for $300 more, any moron would get it over the crap 820.....

You even said yourself you would be all over it Monday. Yes, they can sell crap cheap, and they advertize.. Who fricken cares ??? Not me....Eventually the truth will win out.
