Thanks for the link. Very interesting. Have no need for any HD right now. My Gateway laptop P-7805U FX already has 2 HDs 320GB each in it.

But the Seagate 7200 performance was a real surprise.

Very interesting stats. Thanks for the research. I have looked seriously at the Seagate Momentus 500, but my 320 is way more sopace than I need on my lappy.

SSD's are priced out of contention at present.

i agree with that as well, but i figured people might be curious how they stack up with each other.. granted by the time they do become affordable this info will be obsolete, so i guess its just i have too much time on my hands lol

OP I appreciate this post as I have been thinking about upgrading my laptop's hard drive.

I really wish they would make SSDs that are just big enough to install Windows on them, then you could just put all your apps onto a regular hard drive. Just a 4gb or 8gb memory chip is all, sell them for like $10, and just bundle them with motherboards. It would at least make everyone's computer boot up super fast, and most tasks would be quick.

added new info with 15 ssds reviewed

edit: and for some reason i can't seem to change the topic title :(
oh i can change it in advanced options, but even so the older topic title still is being shown
