So I have just purchased a new DIY system and was wondering any comments on the selection.

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6420 (2.13Ghz)
Motherboard: MSI P965 Neo-F SKT775
Cooler: Coolermaster Hyper TX
RAM: Corsair 2GB Kit (2x1GB) DDR2 800MHz/PC2-6400
HD: WD4000YR Caviar RE 400gb SATA
Case: Coolermaster Wavemaster Silver
PSU: Coolermaster eXtreme Power 650W PSU
DVD-Drive: NEC Optiarc AD-7170S-0S 18x DVD±RW/DL/RAM Serial ATA Silver
Gfx-Card: Point Of View 7600GT 256mb DDR3 DVI HDTV TV Out PCI-E Graphics Card

Setup based heavily on the system built here: http://tomshardware.co.uk/2007/05/09/system_builder_marathon_uk/page3.html

Also appreciate any advice for someone building a PC for the first time. Any pieces of information you wished someone had told you the first time you built a computer.

Cheers,

that system sucks.

just kidding its great man, i would have looked at a different PSU because not all cooler master supplies are made by the same company but other then that its a good rig. the 7600gt is a little slow too, im sure you saved a bit of money though but i doubt a 1950p would have hurt your budget that bad

Well I was aiming for a low budget system, around £500 mark, max £550, and this ended up costing £600 so had to cut back on the gfx card. Hoping it will be quite good.

it will. dont expect to run this years games though. i just tried DIRT with my 7800gt, and it makes my dual core system seem like a pentiumII. i dont even think a 8800gts can max that game out, but im not sure.

That's a nice guide, specially because it's relatively current, as opposed to most web guides out there which still show you how to build a slot based PII system :p
