Gang,
Here is a cover letter I have written applying for a job as an Advisor at a regional university in the area. What do y'all think?
*************************************************************************
Dear Ms. Jones,
Each summer during the last four years, I would find myself packing my bags and heading off for a teaching position at a new college. The experiences and people were always memorable, and it was always exciting meeting a new group of students and colleagues. In fact, those meetings are one of the reasons I am writing to you today. My name is John Smith, and I?m here to apply for the position of Undergraduate College Advisor at Smackdown University.
With some time to reflect, I find myself remembering the very distinct differences between my students at Brown, Buffalo, Northwestern, and Columbia. Differences of class, gender, and background hardly scratch the surface of their diversity. I served many different roles to these students, including guide, mentor, disciplinarian and friend. I?m confident that bringing these skills to your department will allow me to use the passion and enthusiasm so appreciated by my former colleagues on a continual, full time basis.
In short, I am excited about my potential to fill this position, and I?ve enclosed my resume for your perusal. I will be contacting you to further discuss the position, but if you should need more information, my contact information is included.
Respectfully,
FunkMastaFlex
