reverting back to older version of WMP

I installed 10 a while back but I need 9 back on for an mp3 player I got (it's compatible with 9 but not 10)

I tried going to add/remove windows components but that just removes it from the start list.

Could I do that then go and physically delete the files?

Start menu->run:

RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\wmp.inf,Uninstall

I've done it before and it's been successful. First try the ffdshow codecs though.
