Reverting a password in Windows Vista

Got a panic call from a friend whose little one changed her Windows Vista password. I walked her through attempting a system restore, but she said only the same account shows up to log in to safe mode. I'm guessing the administrator account was disabled.

Is there anyway to run a system restore while getting around this password issue?

Any other options here?

Greatly appreciated.

Edit: Forgot about my good friend, Google, and found this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940765

But any further help is still humbly welcome.

you could try to restore the system... by rewrite the regs. use a windows install disk/recovery console.

System Restore won't work...

One of these:

Freind's little one should be penalized, like 10 days with no computer privileges. :)

Hate to double post/bump the thread but I just want to thank you again.

Ophcrack gave me the password in a FRIGHTENINGLY simple way (booting from CD).

Ready for the kicker? Once I told her the password she said "I tried that!" meaning I'm guessing the little one DIDN'T change the password and was unreasonably disciplined. She must have had the num lock off or something (password was a series of numbers, a birthday I think).

Either way, this software will be pretty valuable for other issues like this.

Thanks again.

The little shit is lying! My kid told me he would use my credit card number for a world of warcraft account and instead he suscribed to a pornography website. Boy was I pissed. Then 3 years later he borrows the card again, supposedly because he needed some books for school and instead pays for her girlfriend's abortion. Your kid needs a good spanking so that she learns shit like this won't fly, or in a few years you'll find yourself with a little whore and telling the neighbors that newborn is yours while you know they pity you behind your back, you know because you've seen their faces of disapproval every time a new boy brings her home and parks outside for two hours while the windows get foggy.

This really isn't appropriate for a tech forum...
