Reverse Zimmerman- Black guys kills unarmed man and claims Stand Your Ground

Not far off, another man was headed the same way. Daniel Adkins was 29, older than Jude, but mentally disabled. His family described him as more like a 12- or 13-year-old. Adkins was walking his yellow Labrador retriever named Lady past a Taco Bell in the gathering evening, when he stepped around a blind corner and was nearly hit by Jude's vehicle.

Police say the two men exchanged angry words, the dispute rapidly escalated, and it ended when Jude pulled out a .40-caliber pistol and shot Adkins dead.

Jude, who was still in his car at the time of the shooting, told police it was self-defense, that Adkins had lunged at him with a bat of some kind. But investigators found no such weapon.


If the shooter gets convicted, i see hoopla over Black man gets convicted but Zimmerman goes free.

Law enforcement got GZ case right from the get go. I'd expect they'll get this one correct to, and that's not determined on my expectation, but rather whatever they decide.

Media would screw this up so hopefully they kept their fangs out of this.

Did the dead guy have a weapon? - No
Did he have the capacity to retreat? - Yes.

Not seeing the threat. Not seeing the victim forcing him into the situation. If SYG really does work this way, it would be a good idea to examine and determine how to alter it to prevent abuse.

• waited for the police
• tried to leave the situation

For GZ, the dead guy didn't have a weapon and GZ could have run away after getting punched, but instead chose to fight with him. You could say he was injured since he didn't retreat. It wasn't like GZ didn't see anyone and got ambushed as he got out of his car. He physically confronted TM and chose to stay and fight rather than run away.
