Best part about all of this is the raving and gnashing of teeth by parties who'll never vote for either Dem candidate... but they needed some excuse to carry on about Obama, and they've already got Hillary zeroed in...

The spin factor and hypocrisy are reaching incredible heights, like this-

"it throws a whole kink in things and explains why Hillary is the underdog everyone is rooting for now."

Everybody meaning the rightwing, huh? They've been rooting for her all along... She's who they want to run against in November, and no other...

I think it's only the sick segment of the right wing who can't face the fact their lack of judgment elected the biggest fool in history as Pres of the US. They have to remain delusional or feel terrible self hate, which, of course, they already feel.

We can face that fact, it still doesn't change our beliefs. It has nothing to do with your psychobabble.

Which beliefs are those?

that a socialist approach to health care, increased spending on social programs and increased taxes are NOT the way to get things done?

So why do you support the Republican party that does all 3?

Link to where I've stated such?

*crickets*

you've failed once again in your assumptions and generalizations.

next time when you flamebait, try to be a little more prepared.

 Then why did you answer the question if you didn't read the nested quotes?

*crickets*

The only failure here is that whenever a Republican is called to task for GW Bush, he spouts some libertarian ideals as if the party actually believes in them. Newsflash: it doesn't.

I'm not sure who's more damaging to the candidate they purport to support, Wright or Bill Clinton. Obama put "distractions" On Notice on Colbert's show. Sounds like distractions are getting even. Spin, explain, deflect or whatever else you want to do with Wright's words, but this is only hurting Obama. I liked Wright's JFK impression though.

Keep talking rev!

9:57am Eastern. Wright gets a centennial mug.

It?s white.

Just saying.

What a flaming racist idiot.
wow the more I hear Rev Wright speak the more I would like to hear more. Having worked with urban black kids and having actually seen these kids, "Crawl all over you" when you sit down to read a book with them that strikes a very real and personal chord with me (because at the time too I was like "wtf kids settle down!!.") If this is an example of the types of changes needed in order to support both black and white kids in our schools then why not explore the possibilities? Jesus! imagine what we could do with our kids if studies like this identify root problems with our education delivery and systems. I am not naive enough to believe that there is a single solution, but we have to start somewhere.

The study he references that I GUESS was done in the 70s is really interesting.

BTW- what makes you believe he is racist? Is it because he talks of the black community?

and thank you for the link, I didn't bother with the rest of the website because the owner/blogger/whatever was obviously unintelligent based upon his butchering of the intent of the message in the video. But thanks nonetheless!

So he?s telling us Obama is a two faced politian who believes in what Wright believes but tells the public whatever they want to hear.

Some damning testament from his mentor. You do not distance yourself from a man who claims there is no distance to be found.

so here we have enemies of obama cherry-picking some of rev. wright's words and putting them in obama's mouth for no other reason than to paint obama with the same brush made of innuendo and scandal. repeat - for nother reason.

then along comes pbs (and others) to show what wright is really made of, and now pbs is being accused of coming to wright's (and obama's) rescue?

geez...i guess the rumors and innuendo about wright (and obama) is a lot more truthy than the truth itself. it's amazing how, for those hoping for self-fulfilling rumors and innuendo, these bits of carefully clipped history can be taken as the sum truth of a man and when faced with facts that discredit said rumors, the accusations are then used as evidence of its own validity.

one evening i was watching cspan as call-in's were being taken on the subject of obama's credentials. one woman (listed as a republican) stated matter of factly that she would not vote for a muslim for president. when told straight out by the host of the program that obama was not muslim but was a christian, she flat out refused to believe that and gave as evidence and justification for her opinion that "that's not what she heard". the host repeated again that it was a fact that obama was a christian and she still didn't/couldn't/wouldn't believe it because the rumor justified her dislike for him and she couldn't let go of it.

i see the same behaviour in this thread and in this forum all the time.

As I went to bed last night I popped by the CNN page before turning the comp off.

To my surprise there was a big picture & article about the anchor hanging onto BHOs ankle.

Yes, our good buddy Rev Wrong. It seems he is glad to go out and refute the "politician" words of his good buddy and say that his words were not divisive.

Nothing like having the suit tell us good white folk that everything is ok while the preacher reassures the black congregation that everything is going according to plan.

I think if anything, the words spoken, by Wright, about Obama speaking "as a politian" speak volumes about the differences between speaking from the pulpit, and speaking on CNN (thats alot of speak! :) .) And the fact that Wright does not have a grasp on navigating between the two. Because if he did, he never would have said those words.

Whether you want to crucify him for that statement is up to you. I'm not saying the man doesn't understand politics, Im just saying he is probably better suited for the pulpit and this is a clear example of why.

And what does McCain (the suit) "telling the good white folk that everything is ok" have to do with a Wright/Obama thread? :p

Do you mean Obama supporters are blind in the same way some Clinton supporters? You know, the whole part about not accepting the fact that their candidate trails by enough in elected delegates and overall votes that they can not win the nomination without harming the (D)'s chances in the GE?

You're welcome, I was referring to the video, not the commentary.

What a nut, and if he keeps talking, he'll keep damaging Obama, imo.

Off topic and irrelevent observation. Obama and his pastor have to be the whitest looking black men in America this side of Michael Jackson.

"How bad was Reverend Wright's appearance before the National Press Club this morning? Bad enough that even CNN contributor Roland Martin--who yesterday enthused about Wright's address to the Detroit NAACP, who gave Wright's chat with Bill Moyers an 'A'--flunked it with an 'F.' Bad enough that David Gergen condemned it as "narcissistic beyond belief." Bad enough that, introducing a panel discussion of the speech, CNN Newsroom host Tony Harris let out an audible groan of "ah, boy," and later wondered how much damage had been done."

I've stated time and again that I can't see her getting the nomination. I've disagreed with her questioning Obama's patriotism or putting McCain in any way on a pedastal over Obama. I argue against the supers giving her the nom if she has fewer elected delegates. I thought her complaints at the debate 2 months ago about getting the first question were bizarre. I disagree with her counting MI/FL as is for purposes of gauging her real support numbers.

What if anything do you disagree with BO about?

LOL, you've got the drama queen thing down pretty good.

If Obama was behind by such a slim margin would you be calling for him to bow out? Somehow I don't think so, but please continue being such a shill, I find it entertaining.

One of the main things I worry about Obama getting the nomination is what happens if he loses to the old white guy? What will that do to racial issues in this country? What will people like Wright be saying in their sermons then?

I disagree with Obama on a large number of issues (although less so than with Hillary and McCain). It's just that the ones usually brought against him by detractors like yourself on internet message boards or in the MSM are usually not among those, because they are either emotional or irrelevant (like this Wright issue here).
It is idiotic (and downright trollish) of you to confuse that fact with some notion that Obama supporters believe he can do no wrong.
What you and the other detractors should do is actually address the issues FOR ONCE rather than these constant irrelevant attacks about the political beliefs of his former preacher, or Orwellian-esque nonsense about how he's an "empty suit demagogue" when he's laid out a comprehensive plan and had 21 fscking debates with Hillary, or outright racism like how a black man running for POTUS has only made it as far as he has "by luck."

If the Hillarybots are looking for a reason why she's losing, see above. Democratic voters don't respond well to those kind of tactics. Although I'm certain at this point that if Hillary were gunning for the Republican nomination using these tactics, she would have won it.

Obama has said that if he loses, it won't be because of race. I have to agree here. If he loses, it'll be because Rev. Wrong, to quote Bill Maher, "is a dick".

It seems as though each time the good reverend opens his mouth, fecal matter comes flying forth. Someone needs to tell him to shut his yap. Hard to do, I know, because he's a preacher, but still....he should take some kind of vacation hiatus (subsidized by Team Obama, of course) until mid-November.

Despite what obama supporters would like to think, Rev Wrong IS a legitimate issue (which Obama has stated himself) to many voters. If he continues to poop all over the place like this, there will be PLENTY of material to choose from for the repubs come the general election.

Hell, all the repubs have to do is replay the attack ads put forth during the dem primaries. They can even pawn it off as saying it's not even republicans saying these things.

I'm not talking about specifically you as a Clinton supporter - it was a general comment in reply to your general comment. What do I disagree with him about? Hmmm... Well I'm agnostic so I disagree with Obama being affiliated with any organized religion - especially one which has caused so much controversy in the primary. Of course, if he was agnostic or (gasp) atheist he wouldn't even be in the race.

I have to agree with above characterization of Wright's speech.

And I have an erie feeling that there's been a shift for the worse for Obama. This Wright fellow is simply unbelievable; his selfish pursuit of the limelight just bogles my mind. It's as if he's intentionally trying to make HIMSELF relevant to Obama's election; as if Obama's election is really some sort of referendum on Wright.

Well, I disagreed with taking soundbites of this guy's sermons and trying to paste Obama with it, but I now think this guy has made himself fair game. He has purposefully injected himself into the national discussion. He's the "Bill Clinton" of the Obama campaign. It's like he's challenging the super D's to flock to Hillary so he can have some kind of manufactured claim of racism. He makes the Rev Al and Jesse jackson look absolutely statesmen-like.

My advice to Obama is throw this idiot under the bus so fast and so hard his spine snaps.

Sorry, but I have to say it looks like the Dems are making one hell of a mess with this election.

Or maybe Hillary put him up to it.

Seriously, the only worse thing I can think of for Obama is if he's actually married to wright. Wait, no, actually at least then he's free to tell him to STFU.
