Politics and religion (or lack thereof) have a lot in common. If you say you are "X", immediately legions of idiots assume that means you subscribe to a long list of things, as if you can't be an independent thinker who doesn't subscribe to all the stereotypical things rather that you had to pick the lesser of (in this case with politics) two evils.

America is ripe for a 3rd major political party, and I don't mean a socialist party, rather one that splits the difference and yet, recognizes that both current parties are more alike than different which makes it laughable that these two we have cause rabid bickering.

With only two, there's always going to be polarization about issues, when truth and sanity usually falls in the middle of two opposing arguments if both have enough validity to draw significant followers. This last election demonstrates that, but even more it demonstrates another flaw in our system, that people are so gullible and stupid that what are probably the two WORST candidates managed to end up running against each other.

How did Trump win? It wasn't the Russians. It was that the Dems were stupid enough to put Hillary against him.

I'm sorry, you're going to have to bridge the gap for me. Between the last election and truth + sanity.

An easy one. Last election had no sanity involved. Masses of retarded idiots propped up two puppets, both of them near equally offensive so it was a close race and the citizens lose either way.

Everyone on the left is too afraid to distance themselves from the leftwing nutbag socialist fascists. Hence, the only place to go is elsewhere.

That doesn't mean they have to vote conservative, but to just take a more libertarian stance on things. You can still vote for conservative/liberal candidates - there are only certain ones that are stupid enough to go down the religious rabbit-hole or the socialist rabbit-hole.

I think you are confusing your right hand for your left hand while tossing these indictments...

The far left does NOT control the Democrat party. No one with any semblance of liberal values even pays them any mind... They are the stupid little brother that wants to recycle everything around the house. Fuck them... We openly wish they would just STFU and go away...

The far right, however, took control of the Republican party sometime between Bush 1 and Bush 2 and have been hardlining eastward more and more with each passing year ever since. Some have gone so far right they have fallen off the flat earth they fear...

At this point ANY Republican that tries to break from the pack and dare espouse the old conservative values of Reagan is labeled a RINO at best and in most cases these days far, far worse names... You can not get re elected in 2018 without sucking the orange dick and hoping he Tweets very fine things about you before November. This is how badly some on the right have sold their souls...

Trying to project this same shit onto the Democrats is something that simply isn't going to fly...

Haha, "leftwing socialist fascists"

Too much Marc Levin/Michael Savage leads to non sequitor ramblings.

I bet you think you are the sane one. Lol

You are a "both sides" idiot. An intellectually lazy moron who can't tell the difference between a con man and someone who has been a servant of the people for decades both in office and out of. You are that gullible idiot you speak of, brainwashed by Republican agitprop, unable to tell the difference between facts and a smear campaign.

Hillary lost because she had a poor electoral strategy, mostly because she didn't bother campaigning states she thought were a given.

Oh and we have a third party, its a libertarian party, a party also not based in reality but on theory. It hasn't gained any significant traction in decades.
That being said, now that the Republican party is dead, history tells us that a new party, one mostly comprised of former, disillusioned Republicans, will be created. The new, current Republican party, will be dead in a decade imo.

Re: The larger topic...

A person claims Democrats chased them out, but unless you oppose them economically, or for another big ticket item, why would a person jump ship? In the age of Trump, the proverbial swamp is like a pool. Just because Democrats are covered in filth by swimming around in the shallow end, doesn't mean you go diving off the deep end.

I view this dilemma as a fight for the heart and soul of the party. To guard them against human nature, against their own desire to think Trump when they look in a mirror. The last thing the world needs is America caught in a fit of hysteria where everyone races to the bottom to become bigoted little fascists.

For my part, it is to call out "my" party and demand they take the high ground. To be that shining beacon upon the hill, for we know no one else will. We lack faith in our Republican brothers and sisters but we must never lose faith in ourselves. We can be a positive force that, while standing firm in our values, we leave an open hand to offer a civil society and an invite to all. That invite is, in itself, the very essence of what enlightenment means. Of what progressive values are. That we withhold judgement to allow reform. We do not let our failures or our bigotries stand between us and progress. That our party embodies the words enshrined on the statue of liberty.

“Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

Republicans are the refuse on the teeming shore of political and ideological insanity. I say, we dare not refuse entry to those who would escape from the madness, if the payment is naught but for an act of kindness and compassion. Is such a price too high to pay, when in the act of saving them we also save ourselves?

My vision of progressiveness is one that wants to win back these voters and more.
Do not let your inner Trump say good riddance to them or to your soul.

Yes, only an idiot would think that extremes will work instead of a middle ground.

Remember something. It is not enough to "think" you are right, you also have to have the majority agree, not just at vote but long term.

We have this very strange mentality in the US today where a "few" people think that if only they bitch and whine then they should get their way.

That works if I'm your mommy.

Yes, business will preferentially hire H1B engineers with outstanding grades & experience over Americans with mediocre grades when they can. It doesn't mean that Americans w/ engineering degrees can all find work in their field.

And this is what is wrong with the Democrats today they pretend they are for the people but lie just like any pro big business republican,

H1b's are there so they can get cheaper labor period not this highly educated fantasy your brainwashed ilk promotes,

"Testifying in March 2016 on the impact of high-skilled immigration on U.S. workers, Ron Hira, a research associate at the Economic Policy Institute, a nonprofit, nonpartisan think tank, told a U.S. Senate subcommittee that H-1B labor was much cheaper than American labor. Referring to a study conducted by EPI, Hira said the wages of H-1B workers were at least $40,000 lower per worker — about a 40 to 50 percent discount."

as for the grades you phony democrats with your identity politics and abuse of affirmative action dumb down the education system by lowering standards with the everyone wins a trophy gets to pass mentality and then you wonder why foreign countries wipe the floor with your so called educated students.

I did not say that I favored such practices, did I? I merely pointed out an obvious truth wrt engineers, not all H1B workers.
