Just picked up the 1800+ retail version from fry's today the stepping follows

AXDA1800DLT3C
JIXHB (not JIUHB)
0329XPMW

Is this the 1.5v version and will this be able to do 2.3 or 2.4 with the NF7-S I'm planning to get?
If not, what steppings should I look for? and week?

Hi, my current setup is an Asus A7N8X Deluxe rev 1.04 with TbredB 2100, currently oced to 2700+. I guess my limited factor of going more is the first rev of the nforce2 chipset. Now I'm wondering which mobo is best right now. Are the nforce2 boards all rev 2.0 now at newegg?

Your CPU or memory is probably the limiting factor actually. Upgrade those too with your mobo IMO.

thanks for the reply, the 1 at newegg for 111.00 is that a version 2.0? or the 1 at googlegear for 104.95? how can you tell? or are all the new 1s 2.0?

yeah they are all rev 2.0 by now.

and I think the NF7-S overclocks better than the A7N8X
I don't know which is better when it comes to normal applications and reliability.

How about the Epox 8RDA+?

8rda+ is another quality board and it only costs $79 (plus a free t-shirt 🙂)

i recommend 8rda+ for the tight budget consumer

another vote for the abit nf7-s
nice board with many bios features
if you ever want to mod it you can pretty much do anything to the board
also the nf7-s has sata which could come in handy if you ever get a sata drive

btw i've returned an asus a7n8x 2.0 and a dfi nf2 lanparty board cause neither would do 400fsb stable
the nf7-s does 420 for me right now

I have to vote also for the NF-7s. I actually had intended to buy an A7N8X deluxe, but I already had an SLK900 hs and wasn't sure how well it would work, and got the Abit board instead. It has been smooth as silk. Installed the mb, OS and 30mins later was pushing my Tbred stable at 2.4ghz! Very pleased!

Well said. My Soltek is kicking ass, yet no one would ever say it is the best, or mention it at all.

Budget - 8rda+ Great overclocking, lacking SATA.

NF7-S - Great features and overclocking.

Can't go wrong with either.

i guess i'll have to go with NF7-S, dont' like the 8rda+ coz it doesn't have an coax or an optical out for sound, where I plug in to my surround sound 🙂

yup... you picked up a good chip....

it should be able to do 2.3 to 2.4 with a bump in the voltage...

jixhb were rumored to be around like a month or two ago and now they are starting to show up it seems....

give it a go on your board and let us know how it does!

Yeah, should be a sweet chip. What does fry's get for one anyway? (Not like I live within 300miles of a fry's store, I just know they are cheap.)
