If you had paid attention to what I said, you would know that I did plenty of research and shopping around before buying. You said yourself that seeing RBE type effects on a CRT RP isn't possible. So can you explain to me how doing more research would have helped?Originally posted by: alkemyst
there is no problem, but it's rather retarded to keep pushing all the doors that say pull until you find one that works.
If you are going to do what you want, it makes no sense to post.
Also in the thread "I'm getting very frustrated. This would be the 4th big screen I've returned. " That is just crazy.
I strongly stick by that set can be calibrated to lose it's problem. If you can't even figure out how to call the merchant to pick it up, chances are you do not have the skills to properly calibrate a set yourself.
I have a huge problem when people don't shop before they buy and then stick the merchant with big ticket items that are now open-box.
Yeah, 4 tv's is a lot. I didn't plan to buy and return 4 tvs. The first was a Panny ED plasma. My extensive research led me to believe that even though it was ED, I would be satisfied with the picture. When I got it home, I wasn't happy with the picture.
Number 2 was a DLP that I bought after reading lots of recommendations. My research made me aware of RBE and I looked for it in the showroom and didn't notice it. When I got it home, I saw RBE clearly and spent several days trying to get used to it before returning it.
Number 3 was a Panasonic LCD RP that started having issues with greenish tints in flesh tones after about 3 weeks.
If you have a problem with me returning a tv that I'm not satisfied with, I guess we just disagree. I'm abiding by CC's return policy 100% and I'm not going to keep a "big ticket" item that I'm not happy with. Besides, considering the deals I've gotten on these TV's, CC is going to sell them open-box for at least as much as I paid.
How can you say you stick by the fact that the set can be calibrated to lose the issues when you don't seem to understand the issues. You said something about landing issues, especially if it's in the corners. If you'd read my posts, you would know it isn't just in the corners. You have seen RBE, right?
I've admitted I'm not an expert and I don't know for sure what's causing this. All I'm telling you is what I've experienced and what I've read from others.
I'd be very interested to hear your expert opinoin on what the problem is. Explain to me what is wrong and why it causes the appearance of green flashes when looking from a bright white area across a dark scene, whether in motion or paused, while convergence appears to be perfect. And explain what can be done to correct this issue.
As far as your comment on not being able to figure out how to call the store, you're just being an ass. I assumed that CC would leave me on my own to get it back to the store when it's just a return and not a service call or exchange. Obviously, it was a false assumption, but considering the return policies of many vendors who ship or deliver items, I don't think it was unreasonable to think that.
No, I'm not an expert on calibrating a tv, which is why I ordered Avia so I can learn how to do it properly. I came to the conclusion (right or wrong) that it wasn't a calibration issue, based on the fact that I saw the same issue when I went back to the showroom and looked at the floor model and the fact that the one member at AVSForum who seemed to understand what the issue looked like, said it could be an issue with CRT RPTV's and seemed to know what he was talking about.
