This month's Game Informer contains first details about id/Raven's upcoming next-gen Wolfenstein game, running on id Tech 5 engine and set to release on PC, Xbox360 and PS3:

* Set in World War II among Nazis experimenting with occult powers once again.
* B.J. Blazkowicz making comeback, this time also having supernatural powers of his own.
* Set in one large city, which will open itself up as you progress through given missions and quests.
* Randomly generated content blocking your path at times.
* AI controlled local resistance, assisting you in fight at times.
* An alternative reality called "The Shroud", some sort of a parallel dimension fueling Nazi powers.

Wolfenstein is set to hit PC, Xbox360 and PS3 "when it's done".

Awesome. I'm actually very interested to see how the new iD engine is going to shape up.

ehhh, this kind of WWII hasn't been done to death...yet. Most WWII games are standard Omaha Beach/Battle of the Bulge/Stalingrad scenarios. Supernatural Nazi Occult WWII should be different enough.

I guess I'm officially FPS'd out. I thought this would be something I'd get excited for but apparently not.

Nice.

Does anyone remember that one game that ID was making? It looked like a post apocalyptic racing game/ fps? It had a desert like atmosphere?

The main reason you should be excited about this is it probably wont suck.

ID isnt making it, they licensed to Raven, and Raven makes awesome games.

Even though I dont consider myself an FPS fan, I could probably play FPS's constantly, if they were good. But so many of them are crap these days its easy to get discouraged.

I agree with bl4ck...Halo 3/COD4 = pinnacle of FPS' for me. I haven't wanted to even play either of those for the longest time now.

"Heinrich, your reign of terror must end!!"

"Fool! You know as well as I that I cannot be destroyed!"

*crash, bang*

"A prison then!"

Aah the fond memories of RTCW. Yeah, definately an atypical WWII game, but I guess we'll see.

Ya know, the they'd still be great if you took out pretty much all the CoD named games along with CoD 3 and MoH: Airborn. But alas...you can't go back...

Although I wanna go home and reinstall MoH: AA.

Same here.
I beat the first RTCW at least 8-10 times through. Absolutely loved that game.
But FPS games are really getting old. Same old same old with new graphics, maybe a new gun or two.
The crysis suit was pushing the envelope on FPS innovation. I think that says something.

We need the psychedelic 70s developer team.. stat!
