Return the 9500np or keep it?

the 9500np didn't softmod without checkerboards

so...

being that its only been a week, should I:

a) Send it back, get a better card (this one was 150, would be willing to go to 250 or so, not over 3)

b) Keep it, and upgrade in 6 months,

I've got an 1800+, 512 of pc2700

any ideas?

half-life 2 is pre-ordered

whatever, its got a 30 day guarentee, it didn't work how i wanted, why not be able to send it back? If they didn't want me to they wouldn't let me, or they could be like compUSSR and charge 15% restocking fee (this pissed me off when linksys router 2.5 [wireless] didn't work with their 3.0 cards, thus not being able to work together)

we'll see

i was maybe thinking of the gigabyte 9800

Well if you expect to be playing Half-Life2 at half-decent framerates, you should send back the 9500. Since you're willing to go up to $250, go for a 9800 non-pro all the way!

depends on where you got it and whether or not it falls under the returnable item category. i know Best Buy pretty much has a "no questions asked" return policy, but i don't know about other places. also remember that you are almost certainly going to have to spend that extra $50-$100 you mentioned if you want a significantly nicer card than the 9500np. it seems people in the forums lately have had moral issues w/ returning cards that wouldn't mod correctly, but if you don't have a guilty conscience, then why not return it?

its not like i'm hurting anybody... I already paid for the shipping and handling, and they were fine with me sending it back (was planning on it tomorrow, got an RMA number). Its their policy, its not like i broke the thing or anything.... I just was unsatisfied with the product..

guess its prly the 9600 pro, the 9800 NP or the gigabyte 9800 pro

LOL, a product doesnt have to work how you want it to, it has to work the way it is advertised to work

sounds like you had already made up your mind, so why did you even ask?

I think you were hoping we would back you up so you would feel better about sending this card back.....but you get no sympathy form this crowd.

and yes, I do have a 9500np that failed the mod...I kept mine
