Return of the dinosaurs!!

Found this a few weeks ago down at the lake, after a big storm and some flooding. We figure it got washed onto the path and didn't want to just throw it back in, figuring it would probably die. Instead we put it in my turtle's old aquarium and he'll be our guest until he's big enough to back to the lake 😉

And for comparison:

My turtle, when he was practically a hatchling

GF's turtle, he's almost as long as a brick and wide as a softball, big mofo

What fun is having turtles? They're aggressive greedy bastards... at least fishy can recognize you and act 'friendly' when you feed them.

LOL nice turtle...I hope it doesn't become domesticated, it might not be able to fend for itself in the wild. give it a punching bag to train with to toughen it up

We thought about that and at this lake, most of the turtles beg underneath the walking bridge. He should be well trained for that 😉

you have to feed him meat. Worms, fish, salamanders, frogs, etc.

that is what they eat in the wild.

You should just put him back in the lake. He will do just fine. They are survivors.

They are rather docile when young, but after 6 months they become very aggressive.

Yeah we do feed him meat. Speaking of which, I need to dig some up for him to massacre 😀

We had a turtle rescue here back early May, great big painted turtle, about the size of a football, found walking down the sidewalk near this very busy intersection, no sign of where he came from, so, stopped the car, grabbed him, brought him home. Kept him in the bathtub, till we could let him loose the next day. At 1:30 in the morning, I woke up to hear this *clunk* *clunk*.......WTF is that??! Got up, bent my ear towards the bathroom, it was coming from there. The turtle was trying to get out of the bathtub. Who would of thought a turtle would be noisy. LOL.

Next morning, took him down to the local golf course nearby, with a pretty nice creek running through it. He was in a box, I opened the box, took him out, his head popped out, his legs were going and a going, "Put me down!" Sat him near the water.........he was gone in a flash. Glad to do that. 🙂

+3 cool points for you.

A large snapping turtle was crossing the road near where I live. It was probably at least a foot long. Those things can move pretty damn quick when they want to. Sure he tried to snap at me, but he never got anything. I eventually was able to convince him to wander off the road and toward the nearby lake.
