OK, so I built this person a PC & everything went well on that side of things, but they also asked me to pick them up an LCD 'cuz I can get the good deals.

Well, I did & the sucker's got ONE dead pixel in it. Lower-right quadrant, but closer to center than I'd like.

Now, I, myself.......would take the sucker back for myself. I've had a few people tell me, "Ahhh, forget about it. Just give 'em that one, it's only one dead pixel!"

I'd really rather kick back & relax at home tonite rather than run acrossed town & return this one for a good one, or return/rebuy. My conscience is wearin' on me though.

If they notice, return it. If they don't, what's the big deal? You aren't cheating them by selling an LCD with a dead pixel. And why are you building people PCs? What is this, 1998?

Why a lot of people don't build pc's for others for a living...1 dead pixel is a tough request, if it's dead, suck it up, if it's stuck on bright green, take it back. The best advice from now on is to say "ok, i'll pick one up" and give them the receipt plus any extra fee you tack on. That way, there's no question, they have the receipt, they take it back...unless you provide warranty service.

That's where this particular scenario gets sticky.

They live further east and we have 'mutual' friends so I feel a bit "obliged".

There's also a rebate on the monitor that I was gonna do myself, but maybe I'll just give 'em the whole shebang & tell 'em the story & let them deal with it.

EDIT: And, yes, it's a stuck pixel (bright-arse RED)

Did you pay with cash or credit card?

If you want to try the lazy solution first, I seem to recall there being a "pixel-unsticker" program for the psp lcd screen, perhaps there is another free similar tool for pc's that you can have them run and hopefully fix it :)

Ya, I searched, but couldn't find any "unsticker" program for a regular LCD.

:frown:

Yes, I bought it with a credit card. (And now that I'm thinking of it, I'd rather not give away a receipt w/ my C/C digits on it.)
