I recently bought a used TV, but I'm having second thoughts about it.

The major problem is that it smells of smoke and I can't get rid of the smell no matter what I try. That however, I feel is a bit off-topic for here.

My other issue is that I swear I can see some minor dimming on the left hand side (facing the TV) when light colours are displayed. Is this to be expected, or am I just seeing things? If it does occur; is it likely to get worse (I obviously have no warranty if it does). I've included a photo, which I know isn't that helpful, but hopefully it may help.

Other than that it appears to 'creak' a little occasionally.

I know some of you may well be thinking "why the hell did you buy used?!". Well I've come to the conclusion it was bad idea and will be returning it, but I would like to know if there are any defects, and I'd like to have more reasons that just "it reeks of smoke".

Any help is much appreciated.

Just to clarify it's cigarette smoke, not (OMG IT'S ON FIRE!) smoke. It's making me cough. I've (carefully) washed and sprayed as much as I can, but damn that smoke is stubborn.

Thanks both of you. I was really just after reaffirmation that I wasn't being obnoxious returning it. 🙄 I wonder how I should phrase the return though...

Take it back and hope for the best. You really don't need an excuse if the store has a decent return policy.

Good luck getting rid of smoke smell. I've done it once with a set of speakers but it took weeks. Luckily I got a good deal on them.
