5 years ago... We had a P100 gateway. 16mg ram, 1G HD and 8X CD. Don't remember video or sound though. We did get a 17 inch monitor though. I do rememberthat it cost $3,050! When we upgraded, from gateway of course, we bought 16mg more ram and it was close to $150.

I believe it was a:

300Mhz AMD K6-2
Stb Nitro 4 Mb
12Mb Voodoo2
4X Mitsumi CDROM
17" Viewsonic
4.3 Gb Maxtor
Ram? It was PC100, can't remember how much.

Most of this stuff is still in use somewhere in this house.

Was the 'rents machine, I merely added the Voodoo. They paid something rediculous like $2500+...

A Pentium 166 MMX with 32mb of pc100 RAM. Windows 98SE. Amazing what adding 256mb of RAM to that computer did.

5 years ago, this is painful:

Mac Performa 630CD (equivelant to a 486 DX @ 25 MHz)
20MB RAM
250MB Hard Drive
2x CD-ROM
14" monitor

Then I built an AMD Athlon 650 which I later sold.

Then I bought a Dell Dimension 4100 P3/866 which I later sold.

Then I bought a Dell Inspiron 4000 laptop which I sold after I realized I'd never use it.

Then I bought a Dell Dimension 4400/1.6 which I later sold.

Then I bought a vpr Matrix P4/1.6 from BB which I returned to BB.

Bought my wife a Dell Dimension 4300/1.4 which we recently sold.

Then I bought a Dell Dimension 4500/2.0 which I intended to be my main rig for at least 6 months BUT ended up giving it to the wife.

Then I bought a Dell Dimension 4550/2.4 with the FREE 15" LCD (which I sold) and this is currently my main rig for hopefully at least 1 year.

Last but not least I bought a Compaq Presario 1500T laptop loaded for $837 which I am using right now.

Damn.
