Going to this place on Friday: 1984 Arcade.

It's an arcade with a bunch of video games from around the 80s and some from the 70s. $5 for all you can play.

Anyone have a place like this? Maybe if you live near or in Springfield, MO, have you been to this place?

That is awesome. While I can't say I've played many of those old games, it's always fun to see what they were like, and to play them now. I actually have the pacman theme song as my ring tone.

God I miss pinball.

Those kinds of places are awesome though, there were a few in Portland that I went to when I worked there for a summer.

when I was in florida like 15 years ago in Cocoa Beach, there was a plce called Mr. Arcade and it was $5 all you can play. all the games were on free play.

this was right when MK3 came out and they had an MK3 machine there. i spent a lot of time there...

most of the games they had though were pretty damn old, MK3 was like the only fighter they had I think.

That's awesome. No amount of emulation can recreate the atmosphere, all the different machines making their noises, stray RF, mysterious odors...

Mysterious odors... the place smelled like the inside of a mouth. :)

It was dark and dank. And fun. Played some Gyruss, Rampage, Galaga, Spy Hunter, Golden Axe, Gauntlet, Elevator Action (I think that's what it was called), Asteroids, and others that I don't remember.

I just wish the pinball games were free to play.

F'in awesome! I love how games have progressed since the arcade heydays, but I really miss the sense of community and renegade coolness that we had in the hey days of arcades and BBSes. DISCUSS TRON FOR THE WIN!

Tron was f-ing hard by the way. And playing Gauntlet sideways was tough. Games I wish they had: Space Harrier, Ikari Warriors, and Bad Dudes.

I put so many quarters into Ikari Warriors... eventually used the cheat code to keep continuing and beat it on the NES. It took forever :p

Not quite as old school as all of you, but the x-men side scroller was amazing. My brother and I could clear up to magneto using only 2 dollars. Magneto is an entirely different story

back when I was still living in my hometown...and in high school, a little place like this opened up down the street from the only other arcade in town at the time (which had all the modern stuff...SF2, NBA Jam, Star Wars pinball...:D). the oldschool arcade was far and away better, and lasted a good 4 or 5 months :(

Galaga was the only game I was halfway good at.

I used to kick ass on Galaga and Galaxia.

we had "travel" Galaxia. back when portable versions were shaped like mini arcade stand-up units and stood about 1 foot tall. I also remember a travel Donkey Kong.

Ahh.. Wunderland! I'm going back to Portland in July. I should stop by just for old time's sake.

I had the Ms Pacman version. It took a good bit of imagination to feel like you were playing the real thing :^D

Stupid lack of Wunderland in Hong Kong. They have a ton of arcades here but no pinball machines.
