Friend's house got power surge, although with surge protector, HP and Emachine computers were zapped.
Unplugged hard drives, installed in home built computers as slave drives -- no go, computers saw them, but won't allow to access. Installed in other model of HP and Emachine -- didn't even see them under Windows. (Of course, it won't allow to boot up).
Finally tracked down same model computers (friend got lucky), boot-up and data saved !!!
Any other ways to read those "pre-installed" hard drive? Who knows when it will happen again, next time may not be so lucky.
