Hi, my little bro has been typing on AIM a lot lately. Whenever I come in the room, he'll try and click off real quick. I didn't pay much attention, but today I got a glimpe before he exited and I think he can be getting himself into some pretty serious trouble. Is there anyway I can pull up a conversation from the cookies.

I'll talk to him about it. Mods feel free to delete the topic.

Uhh.. I don't know that AIM uses cookies. But if you know the password to his account, you can always make it log conversations and check it out. I mean, that's invading his privacy hardcore. But like, if he's doing something that will get him in trouble, it might be for the best. Also, if it's your computer, you can always put a keylogger in there. Which is another complete invasion of privacy too.

It might be better to talk to him about it and relate to him on what's going on. Don't act judgemental or harsh, just find out what's going on in his life and see if you can help him through some spots where he might not know what to do.

you have to enable chat logging if AIM even has this feature, if it doesnt you will need to install something like GAIM, Deadaim or trillian and turn on logging there

I don't think Aim has logging abilities.

You need to download an addon like deadaim, aim+ or myim

He is definately up to something. He uninstalled AIM, reinstalled it on a separate hard drive, and deleted all shortcuts andd traces of it. My dad and I use the pc too, so he is obviously trying to hide it.

I knew his old pw, but he must have changed it. I selected the forgot password option and had it sent to his email. I know he has 2 accounts so I checked them both. It wasn't there so he must have created a new account.

He got into a little bit of trouble before, but nothing too major. I think he is back at it again though. I'll ask him what he is up to, and he'll yell to our mom that I am bothering him while doing school work.

He is pretty clever, too much for his own good. If I don't know his PW, is there still anyway I can tap in.

if you install deadaim, you dont need permission to read the logs?

What is a good keylogger? Can I install it without him knowing.

I saw that hey typed myspace into google. Pretty clever, but he got a little sloppy. I went to the site and tried a few combos. I found his account and logged in. All his messages were deleted except for 1 new one. It was from some fat tough looking girl who said,

"heyyy hott stuff, just sayin hi. i deleted the email with ur **** in it so i dont have it. u can call me whenever my cell is xxx-955-xxxx :)

Tell him to stop being a chubby chaser ASAP jk I hope all goes well. Seriously, that's no good, the whole internet underworld of hooking up with people.

...Oh.
I was picturing a scene with a 25 year old with an 11 year old brother....he's 17, shouldn't he know what he's doing on the internet? God, those days stopped when I was about 12.

God only knows what he is up to with internet dating and stuff. Before when he got in trouble, he bought a pay as you go phone so my parents couldn't check the bill. Its up to him at this point, I am going to watch the Eagles game now. Mods can delete topic.

17...?

i think the kid should know what is right/wrong on the internet by now. i used to be like him and hide my AIM and whatnot back when i was 11-12, but now my parents have actually gotten used to it, and i only go on AIM whenever i feel like it.
