Retarded question for you experts

I have a Leadtek 6800 GT, & before that i had a 9800 Pro, both of which have dual display.
I have never really tried it out though, & i was wanting to verify a couple things.

I'd like to be able to run the VGA out to my LCD @ 1280x1024 & the DVI out to a DLP projector @ 1024x768 simultaneously, but not using the projector just as an extended screen (IOW, i'd like them to display the same thing just at different resolutions).

Would there be any problems with this configuration?

I haven't bought the projector yet...i may make a thread on that later, but i will be buying one relatively soon.

Can you say gaming on a 100" screen (wall) 😀?

Thanx 🙂

Not sure with those cards but I have done things similar with some Quadros that have dual DVIs. They use the same drivers as the other nVidia cards so I don't see why other dual monitor capable cards could not do the same.

Thanx, anyone else wanna confirm this?
To clarify, this is with my 6800 GT.

You can do that, run "mirror" mode on two displays that don't have the same physical resolution. The smaller resolution will pan over the actual display surface.

With my original 9800 pro... I could either mirror my main screen on my second monitor at a different resolution or I could simly extended it. I never bothered to mirror other than to verify that I could do so... so my answer on the 9800 part is yes. Not sure about the Nvidia card but I would presume it also work the same way.

I used DualView mode which allows for one monitor to act like a storage bin of sorts. You can have your main monitor running at its normal res and such just as if you had a single monitor and then have the second montor be an extension of your desktop where you can drag windows and such. Using this mode is not a horizontal stretch as the taskbar is only on your main monitor, instead you get your main monitor plus some extra desktop space to throw whatever you want out of you way.

Hmm...so it sounds as if i will not really be able to do what i want then.
The LCD is natively 1280x1024, so to get the exact same screen without compression i would have to run it at 1024x768 to match the projector?

I guess it shouldn't be too bad either way.
