Retaking a course you got a B in?

kind of a waste of money if your school charges by credits. although if you're applying to med school itll help a little, and i mean a LITTLE

so wait, you're retaking a course you did fine in, you got a decent mark in.... out of pride?

really?

Let's just say... I'm asian.. and it might be in math. We'll see after the final. But if I do end up getting a B...

pride--;

If you have to pay to take it, it's a waste of money unless you're on the borderline with your GPA and this will push you over a key threshold (i.e. 3.0 or cum laude/magna/summa)

if you do re-take it, be sure to brag about how you already know everything because u decided to retake the course to get a better grade

Getting a B in college is OK (unless the school really sucks or you have an easy major). Save the money and time and just move on.

i like the chicken nuggets and the frosty and teh burgers and teh chili and the fries with lots of salt

I am asian too and I know plenty of people who are dedicated to their studies but.... dont you have something better to do with your time? Like you know... outside of studying

Can I suggest you take a course about wisely managing your time?

EDIT: Not that I spend mine wisely but getting a A in the class isn't really going to affect your life is it?

I got a B in my second semester of Calculus. It made the rest of my classes less stressful since my 4.0 was already "broken."

Take something else interesting instead, don't waste your time and money going through the same material again.

There are 3 reasons why this class hurts.

First of all, duriing the semester, I'm taking the same math courses as my roommate. I consistently kicked his ass on every exam. Not to say that he's bad at math, I was just better. It's a high 80 vs 90 thing.

Right now, I'm taking Calc 3 in the summer. I've come to find that calc 3 is a much harder course in the summer. The exams are no longer multiple choice, and my TA likes to get creative with the questions (aka make them harder). Also, the averages, which are normally around 40-50 from what I heard during the regular fall and spring semester.. are now 70s. So not only are the exams harder.. the averages are higher too. The curves are worse. We get double the homework. And a quiz each week that's worth 1/6th of an exam.

Now the part about my roommate. We're somewhat competitive when it comes to math. During the summer, he took calc 3 for a friend of his (don't ask me how or where). He didn't do tremendous either, but he still pulled a B. So now when he takes calc 3 during the fall, he's going to know everything and probably get an A. There will be no end to the gloating, I can tell you that.

The third reason why getting a B sucks is... if I get a B, i'll most likely be a borderline case. But the thing about getting a B is... if I wanted to get a B from the start, I could have done that working half as hard as I did because the A range is small but the B range is tremendous. Ahhhh, head hurts 🙁

Find something useful to do with your time, and then gloat about how good you are at that, if the ability to gloat is so important to you.

Obsessing over grades is really, monumentally silly. There's a difference between working hard to learn the material and working yourself to death over a meaningless number. Hopefully you will realize this before graduation. Otherwise, enjoy your future panic attacks.

There's no way I'd ever re-take a course simply because I'd gotten a B instead of an A. People nowadays place way too much importance on grades. If you feel that you didn't learn everything you could have, and want to give the class another run to pick up material you might've missed, go for it. Otherwise, suck it up and move on.

I don't understand the warped mentality kids in college have today.

I bet these are the same unemployed people who go around spell checking every members post.

Ahhh.... ATOT has spoken

Sry guys, sometimes grades just make me feel so sick. Especially considering the fact that I'm doing this during my summer and it's just 2 courses. Anyways, I'm not an all A student. I definitely get B's. I'm ok with B's in my engineering classes, but I'm trying to get all A's in my math/science courses. Right now, my grades are pretty good, but back in HS my grades were terrible. Got C's and D's, was extremely carefree. My parents let me know constantly how poorly I was doing. Now that I've turned that around, I'm trying my damn hardest to keep it that way. But each time I fail to do what I've set out to do, I feel like I'm moving backwards and seeing signs of the old me.
