I do not know if this holds true nationally but in the Houston, TX area starting today CompUSA is having a grand opening sale through Saturday.

Retail Box Teac 16x10x40 CDRW is $149.99 with a $50 mail in rebate.

No limit except for the number I could get in my trunk. ;)

A few other items were on sale with the Delta 12/40x DVD drive being $39 without needing a rebate catching my eye.

Check the dates on the rebate...This may be some leftovers from the sale two weeks ago. Rebates must be postmarket by today.

Can anyone else confirm this is national? My buddy is envious that I got this 2 weeks ago for $100 and wants the same.

Thanks...

The rebate coupon states for purchases 6/15/01 through 6/23/01. Believe me I looked, had to have one of the assistant managers run copies for me. :)

You don't have the store number do you? I'd like to get another 16x for $100.00. Post the store number and phone number if you don't mind...should be on your receipt.

Anything that has Delta on should have another label..."DON'T BUY." That has been my luck with their stuff, anyway.

$99 is a great deal for a 16x burner of this quality.

I just sent my rebate out today, almost forgot. It had to be postmarked by the 15th.

um..whats a retail box

It's comes in a box that has all the goodies in it. If you go to the store you get a retail box with a different warranty. The OEM version is usually for manufacters who just want the drive and don't need all the extra crap, local places will sell OEM but the warranty is usually like 90 days.

How to tell---?

Easy, check the thread on the Fry's drive and you'll find that those who bought the Cendyne Drive at Frys did in fact open the box and in fact did find that the drives were LiteOn drives. Rocket science? Naw, just read the posts.
