i have found a good deal on the retail box sapphiretech 128 MB 8500LE. what i was wondering was whether it is actually 250/250, or if sapphiretech pull the same shenanigans with their retail cards that they do with their oem cards. anyone know? oh, on an unrelated note, does anyone know if komusa.com is a trustworthy reseller? i didn't see any ratings on resellerratings.com or on the anandtech reseller list...

thanks.

I just got the OEM Sapphire 8500LE 128mb card from NewEgg and it is 250/200. Very disapointed! I'll be returning it and probably getting a GeForce 4 TI 4200.

yes, but the retail boxed card should, theoretically, be clocked at 250/250, since ATi has requirements for the retail powered by ATi products. that's all i'm trying to verify.

No, ATI has no set speed for 8500LE cards. I also got a 250/200, but 230/230, 250/225, and 250/250 also exist under the LE moniker. From what I understand, ATI has wised up concerning this issue with the 9xxx line, from now on all cards *should* be clocked at ATI standard speeds/model name. Given the chance, I'd go for a 9kPro just so that I'd know what I was getting.

Or a "built by ATI" 8500 LE 128MB, which pantses the 9k pro.
