Buy.com has the Intel P3-750 FCPGA for $210.95 - $30 coupon = $180.95

Any chance these could be the new stepping? If they are, they may be good candidates for 997MHz. I can't remember if they carried the 750 cpu before, or if this is a new item.

Not a bad deal; about a third of the cb0 core P3 700 can't even do 933 at reasonable voltage (1.85 or below) with air cooling, so what do you think is the percentage of 750 chips hitting a gig? Probably much less than 50%, cb0 or not.

I was asking about the newer cC0 stepping, not cb0. I noticed bonkers was getting some of the cC0 700's. I agree 1 gig with a cb0 are not good odds.

thanks

Guess I got lucky :) I've had my cpusforless.com p3-700 running at 933 in a tyan trinity (bad for overclocking) since the second day Iv'e had it. Oem cb0.

I don't think cooling is the problem... probably just the core design and timing issues. My 17" monitor is warmer...
