I gave my PIII 700Mz/100 to my teenage kid and bought a Retail PIII 1000Mz/133 chip from Google Gear for $217 (The price dropped to $197 over the next weekend..Rats!!!). The heat sink for the 1Gz is twice as big as the one that came with the 700 Mz. I have a golden orb I was going to use on the 1GZ because they look so cool, but now I am wondering if it will provide enough cooling when compared with the intel heat sink that came with the chip. Any advice would be apperciated. Also what are the CPU temps you guys are seeing with Intel's 1Gz chips. I have a CUBX MB.

I'm using a ThermoEngine hs w/black lable Delta Fan. Temp varies with ambient temperature, but is steady at 10c between idle and full load. Highest temp reading under load, with room temperature at about 80F, was 45C. BTW, I think the GORB would work just fine, probably better the the stock fan.

I'd stick with the retail boxed fan. The fan that comes with the retail boxed P3 is surprisingly good and decently quiet also.

From my experience the temps on the P3 seem to jump a surprising degree once they hit approximatelt 1GHz.
The GORB may well cool it adequately but I'd prefer trusting to the retail 1GHz cooler, as I said it's surprisingy good and the GORB really isnt all that impressive as a cooler.
