I just called equal footings CS, and he told they that the $50 off promotion is still going. They have a p3-800 (search for processor, located under hard drives) for 334, theu will pricematch googlegear at 214, leaving a total of $165. Pretty good deal if you ask me.

OOPS-
"How do I take advantage of the price guarantee? Do I have to purchase from EqualFooting?
Yes, you must purchase from EqualFooting in order to take advantage of the price guarantee. Simply provide some form of proof to us of the product price, and we'll pay you the difference between the two prices -- plus 10% of the difference on top of that. "

Brings it down to $152

Do you first have to cough up the $334 and then do they mail you back a rebate for the pricematch + price guarantee + shipping?

JACKHAMMER, that P3 is retail, right? With the branded box? I'd like to make sure.

Promises from dot.coms are like buying snake oil to cure cancer. Remember "pointclick", "value america" and their promises.

This sounds like a good deal as long as you're willing to risk a couple c notes on their promises.

I'll wait for the Intel price drops and a more established business to work with.

Yeah last month me and some other guys here on the hot deals forum bought some batteries from equalfooting.com that were listed at 43 cents per 24 pack. Rather than realizing they made an honest mistake and giving the batteries that were ordered to those who ordered them, they offered to give them to us at 43 cents per battery. I kindly declined. I then received a letter by mail from the CEO, basically begging me to come use their website again, offering me $25 off of $50 order. It said my account had been flagged with this rebate. The only thing is with these people, they run their business like an insurance company. Always taking in money THEN refunding it (sort of how insurance companies collect premiums then pay claims). Insurance companies only make money because they're always "ahead" so to speak, on their premiums. Equalfooting will probably do well because insurance companies don't generally go under, but so far I don't like their business practices.

This month they offer $50 off $100, which is a bigger rebate than I was offered, and it's open to anyone, not just people who were victims of their "Pricing error". Needless to say, I don't think I'll be doing business with these people.

divinemartyr,

You can't really be serious. You think that a pricing error of that size on a website should be honored? Get real. For all of your "righteous indignation", I guarantee that you wouldn't have honored that price had it been your business.

k.. just ordered the p3 800 100 mhz process from equal footing price match with googlegear @ $207 so my total is...
$207 (pricematch)
- $50 (coupon)
- $5.99 (10% difference after pricematch)
-----------------
total $151.01

not a bad deal for a p3 chip ;) just have to wait for the rebate that's all..
spoke with Norin Melik X4846
she told me that i am going to get charged $259.99 and then I will get 2 different checks from them.. one for the rebate the other is the price match.. now let's hope i get both of them :)

I rather just wait. I have the old Slot 1 mobo's and I'm sure after a while P3 800'z slot 1's will be discontinued. causing a big pricedrop. Then I'll just pick it up, hopefully for under $100, rip out that ancient p3 450, and plug the 800 in. As as always I'm sure something will go wrong even with such an easy installation. But conclusion. Just wait. Intel and AMD having the big Speed race. Prices will only get lower and lower

It's ok to accept promisises from dot.coms so long as you are willing to roll the dice, AND can afford to lose what they promised. Often, you will make out well.

For example:

Pointclick - ripped me off - pending check for 23.75, that will always be a pending check for 23.75. cest la vie. No happy ending or silver lining there, but not enough to sue over, so I'll just write it off.

ValueAmerica. Got about $2000 worth of stuff that I needed for about $1000. I think I did well. Now they are gone, but I still have my cheap stuff.

Priceline - saved $20/50 gallons for about 200 gallons of gas, and then I got hurt a little on the last 50 gallons. Overall, a good experience.

More.com - yes, the "lifetime charter member promises" lasted an entire 8 months or so, but hey, I got about 8 $6 packs of Mach 3s for $1 each shipped. HealthCentralRx handled its acquisition of more.com badly, screwed the charter members over, and as a result I will not shop there, but I STILL saved about $40.

The point is... Don't be afraid to gamble a little on these offers. I am running about 4 for 5, which isn't too bad, considering that all of the stuff I purchased, I really needed or wanted anyway. The key is to never RELY on the promises, then you won't get hurt. The worst that can happen is you pay retail for something you would have bought at the store anyway.
