BTW: where is the thingy that says the week of the production of the CPU?

there is no difference in OCing between retail and OEM

the serial number which includes the producrion date in on the CPU

retail and oem bartons would have the same overclocking results, the only different thing is that the retail comes with a heatsink and fan, oem just comes with a chip in a little plastic holder

the information for the production week of the chip (aka - stepping) is on the little black rectangle on the chip

Yeah it is, but it could be difficult. I have heard of people whos CPU labels were covered by the grooves of the blister package so they couldn't see what they were buying. So sad :(

Yeah, the label on mine was covered. I'd get the retail anyways, for an extra $3 you get a decent emergency heatsink and a 3 year warranty (like that won't be voided the second you drop the chip in :)).
