Retail CPU HSF

Hey all i'm about to purchase the parts for a new computer, but my dad says he'd rather pay the extra money and get a retail CPU oppose to OEM. He likes the 3-year warrenty. I'm not overclocking so that won't be a problem. My question is if it would be in my best interest to buy the Taisol CGK760092 w/copper base insert anyways oppose to using the HSF that comes with the CPU and the Arctic Silver II - Premium Thermal Compound?

Would i see any better colling with this or is the Stock HSF from AMD just as good?

you would see better cooling with the CGK760092 especially if you overclock

the stock hsf is ok if you dont overclock

my stock amd HSF for my 1.2 tbird works great. so does my roomates (he's got the same cpu)

i don't overclock either, and both our cpu's idle around mid 40's C, which is very respectable

Cool, so I sould ok with the stock HSF with the Athlon 1.4 Tho i might just get the Taisol anyways for better cooling to go along with the ASII

If i am not mistaken Retail Amd cpu allready come with a taisol heatsink.

Well i bought a retail package from newegg. Am i going to need to get the Arctic Silver II still or better yet should i still get it? I'm thining of just using the stock HSF, since i'm not overclocking or anything. Would the thermal paste that comes with the retail package be just as good?

retail HSF goo works just fine for me. no need to go overboard

I used the retail hsf on my moms Tbird and it runs pretty cool. Only need to upgrade if you are overclocking.

Technically, you void the warranty on a retail CPU if you do not use the included HS/fan assembly.
