Salaried managers are at the command of the store manager. If they say you have to work nightshift, or if you have to do double shifts, you do it. You're pretty much on call 24/7 too.
That was at Walmart. Above Assistant Managers come the co-managers. Then you're starting to look at some bigger bucks, and then there's the store manager.
At Walmart, Support Manager would be the highest I'd ever want to go, though they work those people pretty hard. At that level, you're still paid hourly though, so if they want you to work insane hours, you're compensated for it. Hourly, I'd say that support managers made at least as much as the assistant managers, just because of the hourly-vs-salaried pay schemes.
