Personally I wouldn't use one. But thats just me, I'm sure if you aren't ocing and have decent airflow they do just fine.

They're ok, but for a few bucks (~$20) more you can get one that will keep the temp alot lower.
If you plan on OCing at all, you definately want to upgrade.

they do fine..even for a tiny overclock. they are as good as a 10-15 dollar heatsink...

I beleive XP2500+ and up comes with copper based heatsinks which are noticeably better than throughbred heatsinks.
People have been able to easily clock 200Mhz with these so I'd say it's ok as long as you get the copper ones.

My 2500+ had an aluminum heatsink with a copper slug in the center. It did a fine job of cooling my old 1.1 tbird.

Cool. Actually, yes, I am planning on using the copper-imbedded one that I got with a Barton 2500+ on a T-Bred 2400+. I have a Global WIn FSP-82 on the Barton. It was like a $12 hs/fan, but it is whisper quiet and keeps the Barton under 40 celcius, even while gaming.

Was planning on trying the AMD one on the good ol' T-Bred. And no, I don't plan on overclocking either system.

Thanks guys, and I'll post when I test it.
