I'm thinking about buying a retail PIII 700E and overclocking it. I'm getting Asus CUSL2-C and Mushkin Rev 3 as well. Realistically, do I stand a good chance of hitting 933MHz to 1GHz with this cpu? I really don't want to spend $60 more for a pretested one(OEM) plus another $30 for HS&F...But if I have to then I will...Please tell me your experience. Thanks.

if you get a cCO stepping p3 then you should hit 933MHz but it is still the luck of the draw for getting just the right chip!

I've got two cb0 retail P3 700e's. One does 933@1.8 vcore and the other does 970@1.75 vcore. Chances are pretty good that you'll be able to OC but not all chips are created equal. The above chips were manufacted at the same plant 1 week a part. One's a great overclocker and the other just bearly hangs in. You never know what you gonna get. Like stated above, check overclockers.com CPU database.

I also have two Malaysian retail box cb0 p3 700e's one will do 933@1.65v the other 933@1.75v running on Asus CUSL2-C's. I have not found a retail box cC0 yet just OEM's. Has anyone seen a retail box cC0?

I got a 700 from Compuwiz that does 933 at default voltage, he has very competitive prices if you want a sure thing.

maxs: The SL4M7 (retail cC0) is MIA. I have not heard of anyone who owns one. I just got a hold of two week 31 SL45Ys from Malay. Here's hoping that they will play nice :)
