Rebuilding system as follows:
Asus TX97-E MB
AMD K6/200
Award Mod Bios V 4.51pg
Diamond Max HD (46 Gig) Model 54610H6
Cd rom
512 K mem
3.5 Floppy

My problem is when booting up, system freezes at "trying to initialize Hard Disk" (press F4 to skip)
F4 doesn't skip this screen
I can get into the "setup" and every thing looks OK except for the following error..
Vcore Voltage 3.2v (err)

Tested Hard drive on other machine and checks out OK

Stumped!! Any suggestion would be appreciated.

It probably doesn't like a hard drive that big...you try setting the size limiter on the drive? (8gb or something like that)? also, you have the latest bios? Also, I could be crazy, but does the 3.2V refer to the battery?

I used to have this system setup exactly the same about 2 years ago. It worked fine then. I don't know how to tell for sure if the vcore voltage thing is for the battery.

johnjkr1...
thanks for your input, just checked the battery and it's dead. Going to try replacing that and see if problem is corrected. Hope that is all it is!

Ok, installed new battery. No go! Still stops @ Detecting HDD Primary Master... (Press F4 to skip) Won't pass this point. Any more suggestions!

Try disconnecting the hard drive, it may be too big for that computer. If it lets you into the bios without the hard drive, that might just be your problem.

Yeah, disconnect the HD. Try booting knoppix or something. Good way to see if your hardware(minus the hd) is working.

Vcore is the processor voltage.

This board requires voltages for the processor set via jumpers on the left hand side of the processor socket.

3.2V sounds a little large for the K6-200, and in fact the manual states that it should be set to dual-plane 2.9 Volts.

Grab the manual from here for PCB rev 1.12, or here for PCB rev 1.04. You can find the PCB rev printed on the motherboard next to the name of the board silk-screened between PCI slot 3 and PCI slot 4.

If you don't already have it, the latest BIOS for this motherboard is Version 112 Beta 001..
