Has anyone ever had their resume professionally written for them?

I'm getting kind of annoyed with this job hunt thing and being unemployed is starting to wear thin. I'm beginning to think I need a to come at it from a different angle.

Anyone use one before, have any advice or tips on how to get what you want from them, or if you noticed a difference afterwards?

Graduate from college? Go back to your school's career center - they're always happy to help.

I second the alma mater's career center; knowledgeable people for free....

there actually are a couple of HR professionals on ATOT, at least one of whom has been willing to offer free advice when not busy. do a search and you'll find one of them ^^

I recently submitted my resume through JobFox and they are presently annoying the crap out of me with almost-spam emails.

However, they did provide a really decent and long evaluation of my resume, with tips for fixing it up. Mostly automated but still accurate.

I'm not taking their suggestions because I prefer my resume to be exactly what it is, but if you're looking for a detailed free critique I can see it being useful. Just use a spam email account. The submission process is pretty lengthy, but consider that a tradeoff for the free advice.

I'm one of the folks who has done free resume rewrites on here when I have the time, but unfortunately I'm a little slammed right now.
