If your company is acquired by another company, how do you reflect that on your resume?

Do you write 2 separate experience entries? Or do you just write both company names for the same time frame? I had essentially the same job under both companies.

Put the current company as the section heading and then mention the other company was purchased in the body.

I would be interested to see what others have done as well here. I have this same situation. In some cases, I have listed both companies. In others, I listed both together. But, it would be interesting to see what a general consensus is about this situation.

I'm formatting company resumes at work, and the company I'm with has bought many places out.

Here's what I'm told to do:

2008 - to date
Current Company Name, location, position

XXXX - 2008
Old Company Name, location, position

The positions should be the same to better reflect the aquisition.

that seems misleading because i have been with the old one for several years but the new one for several months

So is that the header, and then under that you write the experience?

My company was bought out by another one last year. We still kept our name, but became a division of the parent company, so it's like "company a, a division of big company"

on my resume, i just put company a\big corporation. in the body of that entry, i made not that i helped integrate company a into big corp's network. i explained this during the interview also.

i don't know if thats the "right" way to do it or not.
